The Lot department is known for its “causses”, limestone plateaus & spectacular cliffs, its wonderful architectural heritage with few traces of the industrial revolution and modern urban development in sight, and also for its many small Romanesque churches nestled in beautiful medieval villages… This area is known as “La France profonde” (Deep France)

Explore the most renowned underground river discovered by Edouard Alfred-Martel, the father of modern spelunking, the Chasm of Padirac. After a vertiginous descent by lift or on foot down to a depth of 103 meters below ground, you will board on a  small boat for an underground river trip through majestic galleries such as Grande Pendeloque, then, take a walking tour to the Lake of Gours whose vault rises 94 meters above you.

After this adventure, continue on to Rocamadour, one of the most important pilgrimage spots in France during the Middle Ages for a guided tour of this site, listed WHS by UNESCO. End the tour with a stop in Souillac to enjoy the impressive Romanesque church with its famous medieval sculptures from the XII C.

Other possible tours : Cahors, Loubressac, Martel, Pech Merle, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie
