Dordogne: The Frenchman’s paradise

  • Discover
  • Highlights

Travel from Bordeaux to Dordogne, one of the most beautiful natural regions in France, with slow rivers cutting through spectacular steep limestone valleys riddled with caves, many containing world-famous prehistoric paintings. ‘The Land of Mankind’, the Dordogne is replete with superb prehistoric sites, such as the famous Lascaux caves or Font de Gaume, that trace the birth of human existence and civilization.

This is a region proud of its gastronomic specialties:  foie gras, black truffles, goat cheeses, walnuts and strawberries, etc. Food lovers and gourmets will savor the traditions of good living and eating well with a good glass of Bergerac wine. The region is dotted with small towns, “bastides” and castles, all typically French. Dordogne is home to spectacular sites and monuments (Sarlat, Monbazillac, Bergerac, Périgueux, the castles of Beynac, Biron, Castelnaud etc.) that provide endless opportunities for cultural discovery as well as a feast for the senses.

You will be delighted to discover the ‘Frenchman’s Paradise’ of Henry Miller, a land of contrasts and high level of “art de vivre”!
