You will spend the first 4 days in Bordeaux, a magic name that symbolizes divine wines and joy of life. Here and in the surrounding area you will also discover wonderful 18th & 19th century architecture, listed WHS by UNESCO.  Enjoy a bus and walking tour of the city, and sense the unique atmosphere of one of the most beautiful places in France, remarkably restored, offering an exceptional quality of life.  Visit the famous vineyard of Médoc and sample some great wines. Take day tours to the fabulous town of Saint-Emilion also listed WHS for its stunning medieval architecture and famous vineyards, and to the Nature Park of the Bay of Arcachon, a paradise for birds, oyster lovers and windsurfers. Here you will also find amazing sand dunes among which the Dune du Pilat, the largest in Europe!

 

After Bordeaux, travel by bus to Sarlat, a wonderful town of about 10,000 inhabitants, beautifully restored, and renowned for its artistic and architectural treasures. Tour this town by foot to discover all the fascinating facets of this enchanting spot; enjoy the renowned food market and local specialties; visit a farm and an old walnut oil mill; and sample genuine culinary delicacies.  Learn about early mankind at the National Prehistoric Museum at Les Eyzies ; visit the unique prehistoric cave of Font de Gaume that houses polychrome wall paintings created more 15,000 years ago; and discover the fabulous shelter of Cap Blanc where you will see life size horses, sculptured at about the same period. 

 

 

Take excursions to beautiful and stunning medieval sites such as Domme, Castelnaud, Beynac, La Roque Gageac, and Rocamadour; visit the marvellous gardens of Marqueyssac and Erignac; and enjoy a bus ride along the beautiful Dordogne Valley.  The tour will also focus on great food and wine.
